Social "DUPLAYS Beach Games" Special Rules

Event outline

  • Teams can only use players who have signed up online
  • Teams will compete in group play in 4 different sports (4 teams per group)
  • Each team will play 2 games per sport (within 20 minutes total)
  • Each sport will start with a random pre-determined match-up (example team 1v2 and 3v4)
    • The winners will then play and the non-winners will play each other in the 2nd game
    • This will determine 1 winner per sport (whoever wins both games, stays on the "A" court)
  • The winner from each group will advance to the playoffs
    • Playoffs: teams and sports will be randomly selected (from a hat) for a single elimination game.
    • Finals will be last 3 or 4 teams, and first team to win 2 games is the champ!

Sport Rules

Beach Volleyball

  • 6 on 6 and substitutes may rotate in.
  • Maximum of 3 men playing on the court at all times (min of 3 women). If you do not have enough women, you will play a person down.
  • Players from back row cannot move to front row and vice versa. Spiking can come from the front row or back row.
  • Rally point scoring. Each serve is a point whether you are serving or not.
  • Players cannot jump block or spike a serve.
  • Games will be 8min long. If game is tied, next point wins.

Beach Dodgeball

  • 8 on 8. No substitutes.
  • Maximum of 5 men on the court (min 3 women). If you do not have enough women, you will play a person down.
  • A player must hit the opponent BELOW the neck with the ball to knock them out.
  • If a player throws the ball and the opponent catches it, the thrower is out.
  • The ball may not hit the ground then hit a person to be out.
  • A player may use his or her own ball as defense. If the thrown ball hits the ball in the player's hands, they are not out. However, if the ball gets knocked out of the person's hands, they are out.
  • Once a player is out, they move to the sidelines NOT behind the endline. There they may retrieve balls that are out-of-bounds and pass them back to teammates.
  • A game finishes when all the players on the opponent's team are eliminated. Maximum time is 8min so if the time finishes before, the team with the most number of people still alive wins.
  • The same as any sports, the referees decision is final.  If you are arguing with the ref over something you think should have been called and you get hit by a ball... you will be out!

Flip Cup

  • 8 on 8
  • Maximum of 5 men on team (3 women). If you are short, one person must flip twice.
  • Objective is to drink what is in the cup, take the cup and flip it from it's base to it standing upside down. ONLY one finger can be used.
  • Once one team member flips their cup, the next team member is to start. The game ends when one team finishes all their cups and flips them over.
  • Any beverage may be used in the cup: water, not-water, etc

Tug of War

  • The winning team will be determined by either; pulling the marker over their team line or the position of the marker at the end of 30 seconds 'pulling'
